About us!

The Sea Trout Group was set up by SANA (The Scottish Anglers National Association) and SATA (the Salmon & Trout Association) in 1997.

It is run by a management committee of anglers, fishery scientists, and senior members of the game angling bodies.

What do we do?

We recognise that there are many factors which influence the health of sea trout stocks. However, we have ongoing concerns about the impact of open net pen salmon farming on sea trout, which-unlike salmon-remain within coastal waters.

We are not opposed to commercial fish farming, but we believe that to be truly sustainable, Scotland's salmon farming industry must do more to overcome adverse ecological impacts.
